'OMEN' — Sculptural Corset I

Developed as part of Janine Grosche’s ongoing OMEN series, this sculptural corset is handmade from translucent snake-skin latex. The piece draws on her ongoing material research into “latex leather”, a reinforced form of natural liquid latex developed to combine the thinness and translucency of a skin with greater structural strength. Here, the material becomes self-supporting, allowing the garment to extend away from the body and move between skin, clothing and sculptural object.
