Sculptural Corset I
OMEN, 2026

Natural liquid latex, reinforcement, plastic boning, metal eyelets
Unique wearable sculpture

A sculptural body piece developed as part of OMEN, Janine Grosche’s ongoing exploration of latex skins as shifting boundaries between body, object and material.

The corset is constructed from a translucent snake-skin latex developed and handcrafted by Grosche from natural liquid latex. Through an experimental process of layering, reinforcement and surface manipulation, the liquid material is transformed into a self-supporting skin, translucent yet structural, moving between membrane, textile and sculptural form.

Internal boning traces and extends the architecture of the torso, while front and back lacing allow the form to exist both on and away from the body. Rather than functioning solely as a garment, the piece is conceived as a temporary body: protective, exposed and capable of shifting between wearable object and autonomous sculpture.

Each latex skin carries subtle variations in translucency, tone and surface inherent to the hand-making process.

Natural translucent latex
